Video Marketing
The importance of video marketing has finally been realized, and it’s a trend that is expected to last for the next 5-10 years. The use of video content within the marketing matrix has become increasingly popular during the pandemic for organizations and consumers have taken hold and aren’t willing to look back. This article will go over video’s popularity as a marketing strategy, and take you behind the curtain of our in-house weekly video production. Here are some influential statistics that show the importance of incorporating video into your digital marketing strategy:
- 70% of consumers say that they have shared a brand’s video
- 72% of businesses say that video has improved their conversion rate
- 52% of consumers say that watching product videos makes them more confident in online purchase decisions
- 65% of executives visit the marketer’s website and 39% call a vendor after viewing a video
- Sites with video are 50% more likely to drive organic search results compared to text
You may be wondering- “why”? In short, people find video content much more compelling. Because of this, Google pushes pages with videos higher in search rankings.
A Crash Course in Video Content Production
It’s clear that consumers are craving video content, so what does this mean for marketers? A few months ago when we decided to start using video in our marketing strategy, my team and I felt a bit overwhelmed because aspects of this were new to us, and we weren’t sure where to start. I searched the internet for someone else who wrote about their experience who could provide some insight to no avail. So, I am going to use this opportunity to hopefully shed some light on how to take the first steps into video marketing.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started on video content:
- A camera, we use the Panasonic Lumix
- SD card, 32 gb
- An audio recorder, we use the Zoom H1N Portable Recorder
- Lavalier microphone that is compatible with the portable recorder
- Micro SD card, 16 gb
- Color backdrops, such as white, green, or black (we use a green screen, it’s easier!)
- Umbrella lighting kit with two white umbrellas
- Tripod
Once you have these essentials, YouTube is your best friend! There isn’t anything you can’t learn with the power of the internet, and I learned a lot about video content from YouTube Creator Reha Alev.
One of the best parts of video marketing is that it’s easy to reformat the content you’ve created, to use it across different platforms. For example, maybe you created a video that you intend to post on YouTube, you can use the transcript of that video and with some quick edits you can make a blog. Or you can use the audio alone and upload a podcast episode- the possibilities are endless. Who knows, this blog may be the topic of my Wednesday Wisdom episode next week…
